Birth Doula

It is my heartfelt wish that on the day every woman goes into labor, she is equipped with enough love, community support, connection, and trust in herself that she embodies sakina. That she enters into a state of peace — not of comfort or ease, necessarily, but a surrender to the process. A deep knowing that giving birth is something she is designed to do. In our current healthcare industry, I believe a doula can provide integral support in getting her there.

According to a 2017 Cochrane Review, birthing people who received continuous support were more likely to have spontaneous vaginal births and less likely to have any pain medication, epidurals, negative feelings about childbirth, vacuum or forceps-assisted births, and Cesareans. In addition, their labors were shorter by about 40 minutes on average, and their babies were less likely to have low Apgar scores at birth (an Apgar score is a measure of a baby’s immediate health at birth).
